RF Gain - bug ?
2015-02-10 16:16
Hi Everyone,

I am new to HamSphere and I am exploring the Rig features.

I noticed that when I lower the RF Gain on a very stong station .. or even when listening to noise I have the S reading going up more and more when I lower the RF gain more and more ...

To me this looks like completely reverse to the logic.

Example:

Listening to a station with RF gain to maximum --> S5
I lower the RF gain to middle position and I do not hear the station anymore but I read --> S7

Yes, I wrote about the same a time ago. You are right, seems to be a bug. In real radios this function makes the Receiver-Stage less sensitive, not higher. So normally this knob "simulates" that you disonnect your antenna.... the signal is going down, not up. It feels al little bit "strange". :-)))

Otherwise you don't need this function so often. For a report you should have it "full open" to give a correct value (S-Value) and use it only if a (narrow) station comes in with a very strong signal. That's the idea of this feature.

73 and good DX from Jörg :-)
