Here was my issue:

3 laptops all same OS Windows 10 ver 1903 newest as of this post

On 2 of the laptops HS4 ran fine but on the 3rd it did not and it ran before I upgraded ( fresh install )

So here is what I did...Downloaded HS3 and it would not run either but it told me that it did not support the recording device! The onboard mic.

So I started looking and I found this...

Windows settings>privacy>microphone> ALLOW APPS TO ACCESS YOUR MICRPHONE ( it had gotten turn off some how, I'm sure I did it accidently on purpose and just forgot...lol )

it says: some desktop apps may STILL BE ABLE to access your microphone when settings on this page are off.

But HS4 is NOT one of them! I turned this on and walla...the transceiver loaded!

Would have been nice if HS4 told me this! But all good now.
