HS4 freeze up randomly.

Hello fellow HAM UPs.

I have a big problem with my HS4, every now and then it freeze up, and i have to restart it, and all settings are gone.

So i thought hey, why not ask in here maybe someone found a fix for it.

To do list.

1: reinstall HS4. Check did it two times.
2: Run HS4 as admin. Check.
3: Reinstall the new java drivers. Check.
4: Restart the PC after Java update. Check.
5: Run HS4 without HS3 running to lockout conflicts in Java. Check
6: Make HS4 run as high priority on CPU, to make sure it have the power needed. Check.

So as you can see i am running out of things to test for, so i really hope someone knows what can be done about it, or maybe know where to go from here.

PC Spec:
i5 2500k OC'd to 4.2Ghz (running stable for over a year now)
8 Gigs of 1333 DDR3 RAM
Windows 10 Home Fully updated.
Logitech HD 920 Webcam (Running as Mic only)

Motherboard, CPU, onboard audio, Mic and graphics card are all fully updated on drivers.

All i hear is a small static click and it freezes up, and i have never had any problems with HS3, so i am sure its something around HS4 only.

Hope someone out there can help me out.

HS4 freezes up on me when my computer is idle and the screen times out (blanks). Even when the PC does not go to sleep, HS4 freezes. I was not even able to close the app normally. Had to go to TaskMan and kill the process there.

Hi,

maybe my answer in this thread could help:

@KE2KB :
That's strange! Nothing reacts if you try to close the program? Not normal, of course.
Maybe the only way is to stop any screensaver and energy-mode.
I'm using HS4 on a small Netbook and it isn't freezing. Only sometimes al little bit "stocking" in audio.

I had issues with HS4 4.010 of random crashing on Windows. Last week, I upgraded my desktop WiFi antenna so I could boost my signal (I only had 30-40% signal strength). My WiFi base station is not on the same floor, and the signal had to cross multiple concrete walls.

So... I installed an external +6db desktop antenna. My main goal was to get a better reception, and better bandwidth for accessing my file server.

Now I have 85-90% signal strength, and a faster link to my base station.... and guess what? My HS4 4.010 does not crash anymore... stable as a rock!!!!

Looks like my flimsy WiFi connection was causing the HS4 crashes!
