Hamsphere fake or real radio
2016-02-05 21:11
Hello to Hamsphere forum.

I try Hamsphere 4.0 and must say it works very bad,
the program is very hard to use when receiver is frezze constantly.

I also try Hamsphere 3.0 and can not understand why the frequencies is not
true an real on both Hamsphere versions.

Can you tell me guys when this radio will operate with real frequencies?

Thank you.

Hi,

HamSphere is NOT real HF, so it don't has a gateway to real frequencies.

HS 3 and HS 4 are different systems with different databases, so you can't hear HS 3 stations on the "same frequency".
HS 4 works like real HF-Radios with real propagation-simulation, but it's still a simulation.

It's not the intention of this program to have contacts via real HF, for that we have real shortwave-radios or programs like EchoLink and so on.
But on both systems you need a valid amateur-licence.
On HamSphere radio interested people without any Ham experiences can operate as well.

On most QSOs you will not see any difference to real HF, sometimes the operating discipline of "non-licenced people" is higher than at some ham-operators!

Hello.

Thank you for good explanation.

Can you tell me what is real frequency of station i receive at 1.840kHz on Hamsphere receiver?

Hello,

I'm not sure if I understand your last question. 1.840 KHz means about 160 meters, but as I wrote above it is not a "real frequency" on both HamSphere systems (3 or 4).
That means you CAN'T hear this stations on a real radio.

Otherwise you can't hear stations from real HF bands on both HamSphere radios. There is no gateway between the systems.
The reason is, that non-licenced people could not work on HamSphere if there would be "a way out" to real HF/Shortwave.

To avoid problems with international law both HamSphere systems are "closed".
But many Ham-operators are using this system instead of real radios. One reason for that is (e.g. at myself) the typical antenna problem on roofs and so on.

After your second reply i understand now how it works.

Thank you.
